Possible Causes
Heavy grease deposits on oven walls and elements, Spilled food on base or grill element, Foil blocking airflow causing hot spots
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the oven if smoke is heavy. Keep the door closed if there is any sign of flame; switch off power and allow to extinguish.
- Cool and clean: Once cool, remove shelves and clean the oven cavity with a suitable oven cleaner, focusing on areas above elements and on the base.
- Avoid foil on base: Do not line the oven base with foil, as this can cause overheating and smoke.
- Pre‑burn new spills: After cleaning, run the oven empty at a moderate temperature (e.g. 180°C) for 20–30 minutes to burn off residues.
- Persistent smell: If burning smell persists with a clean oven, have a technician inspect the elements and wiring for overheating or insulation damage.
