Cooktop control knobs are hard to turn or feel loose and wobbly.

Safety: Turn off gas and power before removing knobs or panels.

• Clean area: Remove knobs and clean around the valve stems with a degreaser. Avoid letting liquid run into the valves.
• Inspect knobs: Check the inside of each knob for cracks or rounding. Replace any damaged Hotpoint-Ariston knobs.
• Valve condition: If knobs are good but shafts are stiff or wobbly, the gas valves may be worn and should be replaced by a qualified gas technician.
