Possible Causes
Shorted bake element, Shorted grill/broil element, Damaged insulation on element terminals touching chassis, Moisture inside element sheath
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker. Do not reset repeatedly if the breaker trips.
- Visual inspection: Look inside the oven cavity at the bake and grill elements for blisters, cracks, or burn marks. Any visible damage usually indicates failure.
- Isolate elements: Remove the rear panel to access element terminals. Disconnect one wire from each element.
- Test for ground fault: Using a multimeter on resistance, measure between each element terminal and the metal chassis. Any reading close to 0 Ω indicates a short to ground and the element must be replaced.
- Replace faulty element: Remove mounting screws from inside the cavity, gently pull the element forward, transfer wires to the new Hotpoint-Ariston element, and refit. Ensure terminals are not touching metal panels.
- Re-test: Reassemble, restore power, and test heating. If F07 persists with new elements, the control board or wiring may be damaged and should be checked by a technician.
