Possible Causes
Stuck heating relay on main PCB, Welded relay contacts, Shorted triac controlling elements, Control board logic failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power. An oven that overheats is a fire hazard; do not continue using it until repaired.
- Observe behavior: If the oven continues heating even after being switched off, suspect a stuck relay or triac.
- Access control board: Remove the top or rear panel to expose the main PCB. Identify the relays controlling the heating elements (often labeled on the board).
- Inspect for damage: Look for heat discoloration, cracked relay cases, or burnt solder joints. Any sign of welding or burning indicates replacement is needed.
- Board replacement: On most Hotpoint-Ariston models, relays are not serviced separately. Replace the entire electronic control board with the correct part number, transferring any mounting hardware and reconnecting all harnesses.
- Functional test: After reassembly, run the oven at a moderate temperature and verify that it cycles on and off correctly and that F08 does not reappear.
