Possible Causes
Open or shorted induction coil, Failed IGBT or power component on induction module, Overheated power board, Loose connector between coil and module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains power. Induction modules contain high-voltage capacitors that can retain charge; only qualified persons should service them.
- Allow cooling: If F13 appeared after heavy use, allow the cooktop to cool for 30–60 minutes and retry. Persistent F13 indicates a hardware fault.
- Access internals: Remove the cooktop from the worktop and take off the bottom cover to expose the induction coils and power modules.
- Inspect connectors: Check the plug from the affected coil to its power module. Reseat it firmly and look for signs of overheating.
- Measure coil resistance: Disconnect the coil and measure its resistance; it should be low but not zero (typically a few tenths of an ohm). An open circuit or dead short indicates a failed coil.
- Module replacement: If the coil is good but F13 persists, the Hotpoint-Ariston induction power module for that zone is likely defective and should be replaced as a complete assembly.
