Possible Causes
Defective ignition switch on burner control knob, No mains power to range, Blown internal fuse on ignition circuit, Disconnected ignition harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas supply and disconnect the appliance from mains power before removing panels.
- Check power: Verify that other electrical functions (oven light, clock) work. If not, check the wall outlet or circuit breaker.
- Test other burners: If none of the burners click, suspect the spark generator or power supply. If only one burner fails to click, suspect its individual ignition switch.
- Access switches: Remove the control knobs and lift the cooktop or front panel to expose the small ignition switches mounted on the gas valves.
- Inspect and test: Check for broken switch actuators or loose wires. With power disconnected, test each switch for continuity when pressed. Replace any faulty Hotpoint-Ariston ignition switch.
- Check internal fuse: Some models have an inline fuse on the ignition circuit. Replace only with the specified rating if blown, and investigate for shorts.
