Possible Causes
Overheated or jammed door lock motor, Warped latch from high temperature, Faulty door lock switch not signaling end of cycle, Control board not sending unlock command
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely. Do not force the door open.
- Wait and reset: Some models keep the door locked until the cavity cools. After cooling, restore power and try to cancel the program or set the oven to standby.
- Manual release: Remove the top panel to access the lock mechanism. Many Hotpoint-Ariston locks have a manual release lever that can be moved to unlock the door.
- Inspect lock: Check for melted plastic or bent parts. Replace the door lock assembly if damaged.
- Switch test: Test the lock position switch for correct operation. Replace if it does not change state when the lock moves.
