Bake element does not glow red and bottom of oven stays cool, but broil element still heats.

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before touching any wiring or elements.

Steps to check:

• Visual check: Inspect the bake element for cracks, breaks, or burn spots.
• Remove and test: Remove the mounting screws, pull the element forward, disconnect wires, and test for continuity. Replace if open.
• Terminal and wiring: Inspect the element terminals and wires for signs of overheating or burning. Repair or replace damaged connectors.
• Control output: If the element and wiring are good, the bake relay on the EOC may be faulty. Replace the EOC.

Note: Always match the wattage and shape of the replacement bake element to the original Hotpoint part.
