Possible Causes

Loose keypad ribbon cable, corroded connector, failing EOC, failing touchpad assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before accessing the control area.

Steps to check:

  • Access control: Remove the back cover behind the control panel.
  • Inspect ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the EOC. Remove, inspect for cracks or corrosion, and clean contacts with contact cleaner.
  • Reseat connectors: Firmly reconnect the ribbon and any other harness connectors to the EOC.
  • Test operation: Restore power and test all keypad functions. If F6 returns, either the keypad or EOC is failing.
  • Replace components: Start by replacing the keypad/control panel assembly if it is separate. If the issue persists, replace the EOC.

Note: Some Hotpoint models integrate keypad and EOC; in that case, replace the entire control assembly.
