Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, moisture or grease in keypad, damaged ribbon cable, failed EOC keypad interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
Steps to check:
- Clean around keypad: Wipe the control panel with a slightly damp cloth (no spray directly on panel). Dry thoroughly. If F7 occurred after a spill, allow 24 hours to dry.
- Ribbon cable: Remove the back cover behind the control. Locate the keypad ribbon cable. Disconnect, inspect for corrosion or cracks, and reseat.
- Keypad test: With power OFF, leave the keypad ribbon disconnected and restore power briefly:
- If F7 appears with keypad disconnected, the EOC is likely faulty.
- If F7 does not appear, the keypad/touch panel is faulty.
- Replace faulty part: Order the correct Hotpoint touchpad or complete control panel assembly, or EOC, based on the test above. Transfer components carefully, one connector at a time.
Note: Some Hotpoint models have the keypad and EOC integrated; in that case, the entire control assembly must be replaced.
