Possible Causes

Control lock feature enabled, stuck control lock button, user settings misconfiguration

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: No internal repair is needed for this condition; do not disassemble the appliance.

Steps to clear:

  • Check user manual: Most Hotpoint ranges use a specific button or button combination (often "Lock Controls" or holding "Bake" + "Broil" or "Start" for 3–5 seconds) to toggle the lock.
  • Press and hold: Press and hold the designated lock key or combination until LOC disappears and normal display returns.
  • Power reset: If LOC will not clear, turn off the breaker for 1 minute, then restore power and try the unlock sequence again.
  • Stuck button: If the lock button feels stuck, gently work it free. If still stuck, the keypad may need replacement.

Note: LOC is a normal feature, not a fault code, unless it will not clear due to a keypad issue.
