Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, misaligned burner cap, weak or cracked spark electrode, failed spark module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off all burner knobs. If you smell gas, ventilate the area and avoid open flames.
Steps to check:
- Cap alignment: Remove and reseat the burner cap so it sits flat and centered on the burner base.
- Clean burner: Use a brush or pin to clear debris from burner ports and the small ignition port near the electrode.
- Check spark: Turn the knob to ignite and look for a strong blue spark at the electrode. If spark is weak or arcing elsewhere, clean and dry the area.
- Electrode condition: Inspect the ceramic insulator for cracks. Replace the surface burner igniter electrode if damaged.
- Spark module: If none of the burners spark, the spark module or power supply may be faulty. Verify 120 VAC to the module and replace the module if it does not output spark.
Note: Ensure burner parts are completely dry after cleaning before testing ignition.
