Electric ceramic cooktop element does not heat, indicator light may or may not come on

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the cooktop glass or accessing internal components.

• Visual inspection: Remove the cooktop from the counter and lift the glass top. Inspect the non-working element for visible breaks or burn marks in the coil.
• Check wiring: Ensure all spade connectors on the element and switch are tight and not burnt.
• Test element: Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the element terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
• Test switch: If the element tests good, check the infinite switch or electronic control output for continuity when turned on. Replace if faulty.
