Possible Causes
Wet or contaminated burner switch, Shorted ignition switch harness, Faulty spark module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off all burner knobs and disconnect power to the cooktop or range.
- Dry the area: If the issue started after cleaning or a spill, remove burner caps and heads and allow the cooktop to dry for several hours. Use a hair dryer on low to gently dry around the knobs and igniters.
- Operate knobs: With power still off, rotate each knob several times to free any stuck switches.
- Inspect switches: Access the underside of the cooktop to inspect the burner valve switches and wiring for moisture or corrosion. Replace any damaged switches.
- Test spark module: If switches are dry and intact but clicking persists when powered, the spark module may be defective and should be replaced.
