Oven produces excessive smoke or burning smell during normal baking

Safety first: Ensure good ventilation. If smoke is heavy, turn off the oven and open windows.

• Initial burn-in: For a new Ikea range, run an empty bake cycle at 200–230°C for 30–60 minutes to burn off manufacturing residues.
• Clean spills: Once cool, wipe the oven cavity and elements gently with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh abrasives on enamel.
• Avoid foil: Do not line the oven floor with foil, as it can trap heat and cause burning and damage.
