Gas burner clicks but will not light or only lights with a match

Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Dirty or cracked igniter electrode, Low gas pressure or partially closed gas valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off burner controls and allow components to cool. Turn off gas if removing burners.
- Check burner cap: Ensure the burner cap is seated correctly on the base. Misalignment can prevent ignition.
- Clean burner: Remove the cap and burner head. Clean ports with a soft brush and a wooden toothpick (do not enlarge holes). Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Clean igniter: Gently clean the ceramic igniter tip with a soft brush and isopropyl alcohol to remove grease.
- Check flame position: Reassemble and test. The spark should jump to the gas stream. If the igniter is cracked or chipped, replace the electrode for that burner.
- Gas supply: Ensure the gas shutoff valve is fully open and that other burners have normal flame. If all flames are weak, contact a gas technician.
