Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the range from mains power by switching off the circuit breaker or unplugging. Verify no power with a non-contact voltage tester before removing any panels.
Steps to check the heating circuit:
- 1. Inspect the oven elements: Open the oven door and visually inspect the upper grill element and lower bake element for blisters, cracks, or burn marks. Any visible damage means the element must be replaced.
- 2. Access rear connections: Pull the range forward carefully, remove the rear cover to expose the element terminals. Look for burnt spade connectors or melted insulation on the element wiring harness.
- 3. Test continuity: Disconnect the wires from the suspect element. Using a multimeter set to ohms, measure across the element terminals. A typical Indesit oven element will read between 20–60 Ω. An open reading (OL) indicates a failed element.
- 4. Check wiring and terminal block: Inspect the main power terminal block where the mains cable connects. Tighten any loose screws and look for heat damage. Replace burnt terminals or the terminal block if necessary.
- 5. Control board relay check (advanced): If elements and wiring test good, the main control board relay may be faulty. Look for burnt spots or pitted relay contacts. Board-level repair is complex; most users should replace the entire control module.
When to stop: If you are not comfortable working around mains wiring or the control board, stop and contact a qualified Indesit service technician.
