Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between touch panel and control board, Oxidised connectors on display PCB, Failed user interface board, Failed main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate the appliance from mains. Capacitors on the control board can retain charge; avoid touching bare components.
Steps:
- 1. Access control panel: Remove the top rear cover or front trim (depending on model) to expose the display/user interface PCB and the main control board.
- 2. Check ribbon cables: Carefully unplug the flat ribbon cable(s) between the display and the main board. Inspect for kinks, cracks, or burnt areas. Reseat firmly, ensuring they are fully inserted and locked.
- 3. Clean connectors: Use electrical contact cleaner on the edge connectors and allow to dry fully before reassembly.
- 4. Inspect for damage: Look for burnt components or corrosion on either PCB. If the display is dim, missing segments, or unresponsive, the user interface board may need replacement.
- 5. Test after reassembly: Restore power and test all buttons and functions. If F05 returns, one of the boards is likely defective; replacing the main control module is often the next step.
