Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Broken door latch microswitch, Misaligned door latch mechanism, Damaged wiring to door lock assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power. The door lock mechanism is often live during self-clean or pyrolytic cycles on some models.
Steps:
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the oven door closes fully and is not obstructed by racks or warped hinges. A door that does not fully engage the latch can trigger F06.
- 2. Access door lock assembly: Remove the top panel or front control panel (model dependent) to reach the door lock motor and latch.
- 3. Inspect wiring and connectors: Look for loose or broken wires at the lock motor and microswitches. Reseat connectors firmly.
- 4. Test microswitches: With a multimeter, check continuity of the lock position switch while manually operating the latch. Replace the lock assembly if the switch does not change state.
- 5. Replace door lock assembly: If the motor does not move or is noisy, fit a new Indesit door lock unit, transferring wires one by one to avoid miswiring.
- 6. Reset: Restore power and try a normal bake cycle to confirm the error is cleared.
