Possible Causes
Open-circuit overheat thermostat, Tripped non-resettable safety thermostat, Broken wiring from thermostat to control, Faulty sensor reading over-temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and ensure the oven is cool.
Steps:
- 1. Locate overheat thermostat: Usually mounted on the top of the oven cavity or rear panel, with two wires attached.
- 2. Test continuity: With a multimeter, check for continuity across the thermostat. If open and it is a non-resettable type, it must be replaced.
- 3. Check for reset button: Some thermostats have a small reset button. If present, press firmly to reset and re-test continuity.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Ensure the wires to the thermostat are intact and firmly connected.
- 5. Replace thermostat: If faulty, fit a new Indesit-compatible safety thermostat, transferring wires one at a time.
- 6. Investigate cause of overheat: Check that the cooling fan works and that vents are not blocked to prevent repeat failures.
