Possible Causes
Failed hob temperature limiter sensor, Sensor not in contact with glass, Loose sensor wiring, Overheating due to blocked ventilation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate from mains and allow the hob to cool.
Steps:
- 1. Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate airflow under the hob and that cooling vents are not blocked by drawers or insulation.
- 2. Access underside of hob: Remove the hob from the worktop or open the cooker top to access the temperature limiter clipped to the underside of the glass near the affected zone.
- 3. Inspect sensor: Confirm the limiter is firmly clipped and making good contact with the glass. Re-seat if loose.
- 4. Test continuity: With a multimeter, check the limiter for continuity at room temperature. Replace if open or intermittent.
- 5. Wiring check: Inspect and reseat the wires from the limiter to the hob control or power board.
