Possible Causes
Faulty thermocouple sensor, Misaligned thermocouple tip not in flame, Loose thermocouple connection at gas valve, Defective safety gas valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Work in a well-ventilated area. Turn off gas supply before removing burner components.
Steps:
- 1. Check flame contact: Light the burner and observe whether the flame fully envelops the thermocouple tip. If not, clean and reposition the burner cap/head.
- 2. Hold longer: After lighting, hold the knob pressed for 10–15 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat fully. If the flame still goes out, proceed.
- 3. Inspect thermocouple: With gas off and burner cool, ensure the thermocouple is firmly mounted and not bent away from the flame path.
- 4. Tighten connections: Under the hob, trace the thermocouple to the gas valve and gently tighten the retaining nut. Do not overtighten.
- 5. Replace thermocouple: If the problem persists on one burner only, replace that burner’s thermocouple with an Indesit-compatible part.
- 6. Gas valve check: If multiple burners have the issue, the gas valve manifold may be faulty and should be checked by a gas-safe technician.
