Possible Causes
Stuck or wet burner control switch, Moisture in ignition wiring, Shorted ignition electrode to burner body, Faulty spark generator stuck on
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off all burners and disconnect power to stop sparking. Ensure gas knobs are in the OFF position.
Steps:
- 1. Dry the hob: If the hob was recently cleaned or a pan boiled over, moisture may be causing continuous sparking. Wipe dry and allow several hours to air dry.
- 2. Check control knobs: Remove burner control knobs and inspect the ignition switches beneath for signs of water or grease. Clean gently and allow to dry.
- 3. Inspect electrodes: Ensure electrodes are not touching the burner caps or metal parts directly, which can cause a constant spark path.
- 4. Test switches: With power off, use a multimeter to check each ignition switch for proper operation (closed only when knob is pressed/turned). Replace any switch that remains closed.
- 5. Replace spark generator: If switches and wiring are fine but the module continues to click, replace the ignition module.
