Possible Causes
Cracked plastic knob, Stripped knob insert, Broken thermostat or selector shaft, Knob not seated on flat of shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power if removing the control panel. For knob-only replacement, power can remain off at the control knobs.
Steps:
- 1. Remove knob: Pull the loose knob straight off the shaft.
- 2. Inspect knob and shaft: Check for cracks in the knob hub and ensure the shaft is not broken or spinning freely.
- 3. Replace knob: If only the knob is damaged, fit a new Indesit knob of the correct type and push firmly onto the shaft.
- 4. Replace control component: If the shaft itself is broken (thermostat or selector), the entire control must be replaced, which requires removing the control panel and transferring wiring.
