Possible Causes
Aged mechanical thermostat (on knob-controlled models), Drifted electronic temperature sensor, Poor contact between sensor and cavity, Control board calibration error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before removing panels.
Steps:
- 1. Verify with oven thermometer: Place an accurate oven thermometer in the centre of the cavity and preheat to a known temperature (e.g., 180°C). Compare readings.
- 2. Adjust mechanical thermostat: Some Indesit models have an adjustment screw on the thermostat shaft behind the knob. Small adjustments can correct minor offsets (consult service data).
- 3. Replace sensor or thermostat: If the error is large or inconsistent, replace the oven temperature sensor (electronic models) or the oven thermostat (mechanical models).
- 4. Control board: If a new sensor does not fix the issue, the control board’s calibration may be off and the board may need replacement.
