Possible Causes
Cracked knob hub, Grease buildup on shaft, Worn gas valve stem, Damaged infinite switch shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off gas supply for gas ranges and power for electric ranges before removing knobs or panels.
- Remove and inspect knobs: Pull the knob straight off the shaft. Check for cracks or wear in the hub. Replace any damaged knobs with Insignia-compatible parts.
- Clean shaft: Wipe the shaft with a damp cloth to remove grease and debris. Do not use excessive force or solvents that could damage seals.
- Check alignment: Reinstall the knob and verify that OFF aligns correctly. If not, the shaft may be twisted or the valve/switch may be worn and require replacement.
- Replace valve/switch: If the shaft is loose or the burner does not respond smoothly, replace the gas valve or infinite switch for that burner.
