Possible Causes
Overheated glass surface, Blocked ventilation under cooktop, Failed temperature sensor on glass, Faulty thermal limiter on radiant element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off all burners and allow the cooktop to cool completely. Do not place hot pans over control electronics.
- Allow cool-down: Wait 20–30 minutes for the glass and internal components to cool. Restart the burner; if E2 clears, it was a temporary overheat.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance and airflow under the Insignia cooktop per installation instructions. Remove any items stored directly beneath that may block airflow.
- Inspect thermal sensor: With power OFF and cooktop removed, locate the temperature sensor or thermal limiter attached to the underside of the glass or radiant element. Check for secure mounting and intact wiring.
- Replace faulty limiter/sensor: If the limiter is open or the sensor is out of spec, replace the component for the affected zone.
