Possible Causes
Failed internal temperature sensor, Loose sensor connection to power board, Sensor shorted to chassis, Faulty power board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the cooktop from the counter.
- Allow cooling: Let the cooktop cool completely, then restore power to see if E4 clears.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the cooktop and access the underside. Locate the internal temperature sensor (often clipped to the heatsink or near the coils). Check that it is firmly attached and the wiring is intact.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to specifications. Replace the sensor if open, shorted, or out of range.
- Replace power board: If the sensor and wiring are good but E4 persists, replace the power board.
