Possible Causes
Blocked cooling fan or vents, Failed cooling fan motor, Overheated power module, Faulty temperature sensor on heatsink
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing internal components.
- Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance under the cooktop and that vents are not blocked by insulation or stored items.
- Inspect cooling fan: Remove the cooktop and check the internal cooling fan. Spin the blades by hand; if stiff or noisy, replace the fan motor.
- Clean dust and debris: Use compressed air to blow dust from the heatsinks and fan area.
- Test after cooling: After cleaning and ensuring airflow, restore power and test. If E5 recurs quickly, the power module or its temperature sensor may be failing and the power board should be replaced.
