Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring shorted to chassis, Melted sensor harness insulation, Moisture in sensor connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing panels or touching wiring.

  • Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the oven temperature sensor from the rear wall of the oven cavity. Check for visible damage, melted insulation, or signs of a short to the metal liner.
  • Measure resistance: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance at room temperature. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor; replace it.
  • Check harness routing: From the rear of the range, follow the sensor wires to the EOC. Look for spots where the harness may have rubbed against sharp metal or been pinched, causing a short. Repair or replace the harness.
  • Dry connectors: If there is evidence of moisture (from steam or spills) in the connector, dry thoroughly and apply a small amount of dielectric grease before reconnecting.
  • Control board check: If sensor and wiring are good but F4 remains, the EOC sensor input may be internally shorted and the board should be replaced.
