Possible Causes

Shorted touchpad membrane, Damaged control panel from cleaning chemicals, Loose or contaminated keypad ribbon cable, Failed keypad interface on EOC

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before opening the control console.

  • Clean and dry: If the error appeared after heavy cleaning, there may be moisture or cleaner residue behind the keypad. Leave power OFF and allow the control panel to dry for several hours.
  • Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the rear console cover. Disconnect the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the EOC. Inspect for corrosion, kinks, or damage. Clean the contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol and reconnect firmly.
  • Test with keypad disconnected: With the keypad ribbon unplugged, restore power. If F7 disappears, the keypad is defective and the control panel/touchpad assembly should be replaced.
  • Replace EOC if needed: If F7 persists even with the keypad disconnected, the EOC keypad interface is faulty and the board must be replaced.
  • Preventive tip: Avoid spraying cleaners directly on the control panel; spray onto a cloth first to prevent liquid intrusion.
