Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor, Blocked cooling vents, Faulty oven temperature sensor, Stuck door lock keeping heat trapped
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before servicing. Surfaces may be extremely hot after self-clean.
- Allow full cool-down: Leave the oven powered off for at least 30–60 minutes to cool. Restore power and check if F8 clears.
- Check cooling fan: During a bake or self-clean cycle, the internal cooling fan should run. If you do not hear it, the fan motor or its wiring may be faulty. With power OFF, access the rear of the range and inspect the cooling fan assembly for obstructions or seized blades. Replace the cooling fan motor if it does not spin freely or fails when powered.
- Inspect vents: Ensure the rear and top vents of the Insignia range are not blocked by cabinets, foil, or other objects.
- Test oven sensor: Check the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature (about 1080–1100 Ω). Replace if out of range.
- Door lock check: If the door remains locked, the lock motor or switch may be stuck, trapping heat. Inspect the door lock assembly and replace if it does not operate smoothly.
