Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor assembly, Broken or jammed lock mechanism, Faulty door lock switch, Loose wiring between lock assembly and EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Do not force the door open if the oven is still hot.
- Allow oven to cool: If F9 occurred during self-clean, wait until the oven is completely cool; the lock may release automatically once temperature drops.
- Access lock assembly: Remove the rear panel of the range to access the door lock motor assembly near the top center. Inspect the lock rod and mechanism for binding or misalignment.
- Check wiring and switches: Verify that the lock motor connector is secure and that the lock position switch (if separate) is not damaged. Look for burned or broken wires.
- Manual release: Some Insignia models have a manual door lock release accessible from the top or rear. Consult the service manual; gently move the release lever to unlock the door with power OFF.
- Replace lock assembly: If the motor does not run during a lock/unlock command or the mechanism is worn, replace the complete door lock motor assembly.
