Insignia Temperature Calibration or Sensor Drift

Oven heats, but temperature is inaccurate (too hot or too cold compared to set temperature).

Possible Causes

Aging oven temperature sensor, Miscalibrated EOC, Poor air circulation in oven cavity, Incorrect rack placement or heavy cookware affecting readings

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before testing the sensor.

  • Verify with thermometer: Place an oven-safe thermometer in the center of the oven and run a 350°F bake cycle. Compare actual temperature to the set temperature after 20–30 minutes.
  • Adjust calibration: Many Insignia ranges allow temperature calibration in the settings menu (e.g., +/- 35°F). Refer to the user manual and adjust to compensate for the observed difference.
  • Check sensor: If the error is large or unstable, test the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature (about 1080–1100 Ω). Replace if out of spec.
  • Improve airflow: Avoid covering racks with foil and do not place large pans directly against the back wall, which can affect sensor readings.
