JennAir Bake Element Failure

Electric JennAir oven does not heat on bake; broil may still work (no error code)

Possible Causes

Open bake heating element, Burned element terminals, Loose wiring at element, Failed bake relay on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power at the breaker before touching any wiring.

  • Visual inspection: Look at the bake element at the bottom of the oven for blisters, cracks, or burn-through. Any visible damage means it must be replaced.
  • Continuity test: Remove the rear panel, disconnect the element wires, and test the element with a meter. An open reading indicates a failed element.
  • Replace element: Remove mounting screws inside the oven, gently pull the element forward, transfer wires to the new JennAir-compatible bake element, and reinstall.
  • Control board: If the element tests good but never receives power during bake, the bake relay on the control board may be faulty and require replacement.
