Possible Causes
Shorted touch membrane, Damaged glass touch panel, Loose keypad ribbon connection, Moisture intrusion into control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the control panel.
- Reset and dry: If the error appeared after a spill or steam cleaning, turn power off for 30 minutes to allow the panel to dry. Do not use the oven self-clean during troubleshooting.
- Inspect keypad surface: Look for cracks, bubbling, or sticky residue on the touch panel. Any physical damage usually means the keypad must be replaced.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the back cover behind the control panel. Locate the flat ribbon from the keypad to the control board. Unplug it, inspect for corrosion or burnt spots, clean gently with isopropyl alcohol if dirty, and reconnect firmly.
- Test key response: Restore power and test each key. If some keys do not respond or the F1-2 returns immediately, the keypad/touch panel is defective.
- Replace keypad/touch panel: Remove the front trim screws, carefully lift the control panel, release the keypad clips or adhesive, and install the new JennAir-compatible touch panel. Reconnect the ribbon and reassemble.
If the error persists even with a new keypad, the electronic oven control board may also need replacement.
