Possible Causes
Open (broken) oven temperature sensor, Unplugged or loose sensor connector, Broken sensor wiring harness, Failed sensor input on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the oven interior or rear panel.
- Locate the sensor: Inside the oven cavity, find the thin metal probe (usually at the upper rear wall). This is the temperature sensor.
- Check connection: Remove the two mounting screws, gently pull the sensor forward, and inspect the connector. Ensure it is fully seated. If accessible from the rear, remove the back panel and verify the harness connection to the sensor and control board.
- Test resistance (if you have a meter): With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance at room temperature. A typical JennAir sensor should read about 1050–1100 ohms at 70°F (21°C). If it reads open (OL) or far outside this range, replace the sensor.
- Replace sensor: If faulty, install a new JennAir-compatible oven temperature sensor, route the wires through the insulation, and secure with the original screws. Reconnect the harness.
- Control board check: If the sensor tests good but F1-3 persists, the electronic oven control board sensor circuit may be defective and require replacement.
