Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor reading low resistance, Stuck relay on control board keeping element on, Incorrect oven calibration, Poor airflow around oven cavity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.
- Cancel and cool: Press Cancel to stop the cycle. If the code persists, shut off power at the breaker for 10 minutes, then restore power.
- Avoid self-clean: Do not run self-clean again until the issue is resolved; self-clean can over-stress components.
- Check sensor: Test the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature (about 1050–1100 ohms). If it reads significantly lower (indicating it thinks the oven is hotter than it is), replace the sensor.
- Inspect elements: With power off, inspect bake and broil elements for visible damage or warping. A shorted element can cause runaway heating and must be replaced.
- Control board relays: If the oven continues heating with the control off, a relay on the electronic oven control may be welded closed. In this case, replace the control board.
