Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor, Jammed latch mechanism, Bent latch rod, Faulty door lock wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely.

  • Manual release (if locked): On some JennAir models, you can access a manual release lever through the top or rear panel. Consult your user manual for the exact location.
  • Inspect latch: Remove the top or rear panel to view the latch motor and rod. Check for obstructions, bent parts, or grease buildup. Clean and lubricate lightly with high-temperature-safe lubricant if binding is found.
  • Test motor: With power restored and extreme caution, start a self-clean cycle and observe whether the motor attempts to move. If there is no movement and voltage is present at the motor, replace the lock motor assembly.
  • Replace assembly: Disconnect power again, remove mounting screws, disconnect the harness, and install the new JennAir-compatible door lock motor/latch assembly.
