Possible Causes
Stuck door lock motor, Jammed latch mechanism, Failed door lock switch feedback, Control not receiving unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the oven to cool completely before attempting to open the door.
- Wait for cool-down: Some models will not unlock until the oven is below a safe temperature. Wait at least 30–60 minutes.
- Manual release: Access the manual release lever (if provided) through the top or rear panel to unlock the door.
- Inspect latch and motor: With the rear or top panel removed, check for binding or bent parts in the latch assembly. Clean and lubricate lightly if necessary.
- Check switches: Use a meter to test the lock and unlock switches on the latch assembly. Replace the assembly if switches do not change state when the latch moves.
- Replace lock assembly: Install a new JennAir-compatible door lock assembly if the motor or switches are defective.
