Possible Causes
Open broil igniter, Weak broil igniter not drawing enough current, Loose broil igniter wiring, Failed broil gas valve coil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas and power before servicing.
- Check broil operation: Start a broil cycle and look for the igniter glow near the broil burner. If it does not glow or glows weakly and the burner never lights, suspect the igniter.
- Access broil igniter: Remove the oven racks and broil shield to access the broil burner and igniter.
- Test igniter: Inspect for cracks and test continuity. Replace if open or physically damaged.
- Replace igniter: Install a new JennAir-compatible broil igniter, routing wires away from direct flame.
- Gas valve check: If a new igniter glows strongly but the burner does not light, the broil gas valve may be defective and should be tested by a professional.
