Possible Causes

Wet or contaminated igniter, Misaligned burner cap causing poor flame sensing, Shorted spark switch, Failed spark module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off the burner knob and ensure flames are out before working near the igniters.

  • Dry igniters: Moisture from cleaning or spills is the most common cause. Unplug the range and let it dry for several hours, or use a hair dryer on low to gently dry the igniter area.
  • Check cap alignment: Ensure burner caps are centered and level. Poor flame contact can prevent the igniter from sensing flame.
  • Clean around igniter: Remove any food debris or grease around the igniter tip with a soft brush.
  • Test switches: If clicking continues with all knobs in OFF, a stuck or shorted burner switch or spark module is likely. The switch harness or spark module may need replacement.
