Possible Causes
Clogged burner ports, Misaligned burner cap, Wet igniter or burner head, Failed spark igniter or spark module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas supply if you smell gas continuously. Avoid open flames while troubleshooting.
- Check cap alignment: Ensure each burner cap is seated correctly on the burner base. Misalignment prevents proper ignition.
- Clean burner ports: Remove burner caps and heads. Use a soft brush or a wooden toothpick to clear clogged gas ports. Do not enlarge the holes.
- Dry components: If burners were recently cleaned, moisture may be causing misfires. Let the cooktop air-dry or use a hair dryer on low (with power off) to dry igniters and burner heads.
- Inspect igniters: Verify that each igniter spark is strong and blue. If one burner does not spark but others do, its igniter or wiring may be faulty.
- Replace igniter or spark module: If multiple burners fail to spark, the JennAir spark module may be defective. Replace the individual igniter or the spark module as indicated by testing.
