JennAir oven has strong chemical or burning plastic odor during use (no error code)

Safety: Turn off the oven if you suspect plastic or non-food items are burning. Ventilate the area.

• Inspect cavity: After cooling, check for any plastic, tape, or packing materials left on racks, elements, or walls. Remove completely.
• Clean thoroughly: Wipe interior surfaces with warm soapy water and dry. Remove any melted residue carefully.
• Burn-in cycle: Run an empty bake cycle at 400–450°F for 30–60 minutes to burn off remaining odors.
• Use only oven-safe items: Avoid using non-oven-safe liners, plastics, or cookware that can off-gas at high temperatures.
