Possible Causes
Burned-out coil element, Loose element receptacle, Failed infinite switch, Burnt wiring at receptacle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspecting wiring.
- Swap test:
- On plug-in coil models, swap the non-working element with a known good one of the same size.
- If the problem follows the element, replace the surface coil element.
- Inspect receptacle:
- Check the element receptacle for burns or looseness.
- Replace the surface element receptacle kit if damaged.
- Test infinite switch:
- If element and receptacle are good, the infinite switch may be faulty.
- Remove the control panel, disconnect the switch, and test continuity between terminals as you turn the knob.
- Replace the infinite switch if it does not switch properly.
