Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Jammed latch mechanism, Faulty door lock switch, Control board not sending unlock signal, Overheated lock components after self-clean
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Allow the oven to cool completely before attempting to release the door.
- Power reset:
- After cooling, restore power and press Cancel.
- Listen for the lock motor attempting to move. If no sound, proceed to mechanical checks.
- Manual unlock:
- With power off, remove the top panel of the range.
- Locate the door lock mechanism and manually move the latch rod to the unlocked position to open the door.
- Inspect lock assembly:
- Check for melted plastic, bent linkage, or broken springs.
- Verify wiring connections to the lock motor and switches are secure.
- Electrical tests:
- Measure lock motor resistance; replace if open.
- Test lock/unlock position switches with a multimeter for proper operation.
- Replace components:
- Replace the door lock motor and latch assembly if mechanical or electrical failure is found.
- If lock assembly is good but F92 persists, the electronic oven control (EOC) may need replacement.
