Possible Causes
Broken oven temperature sensor, disconnected sensor plug at control board, broken wire in sensor harness, corroded connector at sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the appliance from mains before removing any panels.
- Access sensor: Locate the oven temperature sensor inside the cavity. Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector (some models have the connector behind the rear panel instead).
- Check continuity: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance across its terminals. If the meter shows OL (open line) or extremely high resistance, the sensor is open and must be replaced.
- Inspect harness: If the sensor tests good, trace the harness back to the main control board. Look for breaks where the cable passes through the oven insulation or metal cutouts.
- Connector cleaning: Clean any oxidized connectors with contact cleaner and reseat firmly.
- Replace faulty part: Install a new oven temperature sensor if open. If wiring is damaged, repair or replace the sensor harness.
Tip: Always route the new sensor wiring away from sharp edges and hot surfaces to prevent future failures.
