Possible Causes
Shorted NTC sensor, sensor wires shorted to chassis, melted insulation near oven cavity, moisture inside sensor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool fully.
- Inspect sensor and wiring: Remove the rear panel or top cover to access the sensor wiring. Look for melted or crushed insulation where the harness passes near the hot cavity.
- Resistance test: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace it.
- Check for chassis shorts: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance between each sensor lead and the oven chassis. Any low resistance indicates a shorted wire; repair or replace the harness.
- Dry connectors: If there are signs of moisture or steam ingress, dry the connectors thoroughly and apply a small amount of dielectric grease to protect contacts.
- Replace parts: Install a new oven temperature sensor or sensor harness as needed.
After repair: Run a test bake and verify that the oven reaches and maintains the set temperature without error.
