Possible Causes

Tripped thermal cut-out (safety thermostat), failed main power relay on control board, broken live feed to heating elements, faulty selector function switch (on knob-controlled models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains and verify it cannot be accidentally energized while you work.

  • Check thermal cut-out: Access the top or rear of the oven to locate the safety thermostat (often a small round device with two terminals). Some have a manual reset button; press it firmly to reset.
  • Test elements individually: With the rear panel removed, measure resistance of the bake, grill, and fan elements. Typical values are 20–60 Ω. Replace any open element.
  • Selector switch: On models with a mechanical function selector, test continuity across the appropriate contacts in each mode. Replace the function selector switch if it does not route power correctly.
  • Control relay: If all elements and switches are good, the main relay on the control board may not be closing. Inspect the board for burnt relay contacts and replace the main control module if necessary.

Note: If the thermal cut-out trips repeatedly, investigate cooling fan operation and ventilation.
