Possible Causes
Aging or drifting oven temperature sensor, faulty thermostat (on analog models), miscalibrated electronic control, poor door seal causing heat loss
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing internal components.
- Verify with thermometer: Place an oven-safe thermometer in the center of the cavity and compare actual temperature to the setpoint over 20–30 minutes.
- Inspect door seal: Check the gasket around the door for gaps, tears, or compression. Replace the oven door gasket if it does not seal evenly.
- Sensor check: Test the oven temperature sensor resistance at room temperature and at a known elevated temperature (if possible). Replace if readings are out of specification.
- Thermostat (mechanical): On knob-controlled ranges, test the thermostat contacts for proper opening/closing at temperature; replace the oven thermostat if faulty.
- Control calibration: Some electronic models allow offset calibration in the settings menu. Adjust according to the user manual if the deviation is small (±10–20°C).
Tip: Large deviations or unstable temperatures usually indicate a failing sensor or control, not just calibration drift.
